Liam Templeton, Species on the Edge Project Officer, Amphibian and Reptile Conservation
Liam Templeton is a native Doonhamer having been born and raised in Dumfries. Discovering an early affinity for the natural world and having exhibited an aptitude for science in school, Liam moved to Glasgow to pursue an undergraduate degree in Zoology. After graduating, having spent some time working abroad in the likes of Trinidad & Tobago and Sweden, Liam returned to Glasgow to complete a master’s degree in quantitative ecology before moving back to his home region.
During this time, inspired by the rich cultural heritage exhibited by his home counties, Liam developed an interest in environmental art which set him on a path to pursuing a second master’s degree in environmental communication. Since then, Liam has worked for a number of socially engaged charitable organisations on issues such as cultural democracy, food insecurity and transport inequity. Since early 2023, Liam has been employed as a project officer as part of Species on the Edge – through which he hopes to use his skills and experience to better explore the intersections of community, creativity and conservation.
