Professor James Floyd

A native of Scotland, Professor James Floyd retired as District Geologist for the South of Scotland after 36 years with the British Geological Survey in Edinburgh.  A graduate of Glasgow, Heriot-Watt  and St Andrews Universities, he has worked for the last 16 years since retiral as an earth science and history lecturer on cruise ships, as well as acting as a guide on small expedition ships. 

Heraldry has been a life-long interest and he has been the Editor of the Heraldry Society of Scotland for over 20 years.  His current project is compiling a Gazetteer of Scottish Architectural Heraldry, some images from which will feature in tonight’s lecture.
