Dr Kirsty Millican
THIS MEETING WILL START AT 6:30pm.
Kirsty Millican is an archaeologist and heritage professional with expertise in aerial and cropmark archaeology, archaeological interpretation and the Neolithic and Bronze Age of Scotland. She completed her PhD on the Timber monuments of Neolithic Scotland in 2009 and has since worked in academia and the public sector. She is currently employed by Historic Environment Scotland as a Senior Designations Officer, but is speaking in a personal capacity about her independent research project, the Lochbrow Landscape Project.
Lochbrow is about 2.5km south of the village of Johnstonebridge. In the 1980s and 1990s aerial surveys recorded the presence of cropmarks there which indicated a complex of prehistoric monuments. More recent work on the ground, using a variety of surveying techniques, has aimed to gain a better understanding of the site.
